The Mark

It all started at the end of a photoshoot with my first major client—who today has become a great friend. As we were wrapping up, she caught me off guard: "What do you think about me getting a tattoo?" We talked for a bit. Since it would be her first, she wanted something special but lacked a clear direction. I decided to give her a genuine suggestion, though I admit it was a bit whimsical, pulling the idea entirely into my own world. Something that spoke much more to my own obsessions than to hers. I said, with conviction: "Get a playing card." She took the idea in, said she'd think about it, and the shoot ended.

Until our next shoot—a project with a much more intimate and sensual vibe. She arrived and announced: "I got the tattoo. You'll end up seeing it during the shoot, so you can grab some shots of it." When the design finally appeared through the lens, I laughed and immediately commented: "Wow, you really took my suggestion seriously, huh? It actually looks really good!" She replied in the same tone, completely naturally: "Well, yeah! You gave me the idea, I thought it over, and decided to do it."

The shoot flowed incredibly well after that, but that specific shot where the tattoo appeared changed everything. I decided to archive this photo here, separate from the commercial world. A secret kept between photography and illusionism, waiting for the exact moment when a choice of yours would give this image a whole new meaning.
